Best motivational sites for startup entrepreneurs.

Best motivational sites for young entrepreneurs. It's rightly pointed out that no man is an island. We learn from other's. From their mistake and their successes. Business needs a lot of guidance, and determined entrepreneurs know the importance of it. Many sites provide entrepreneurial advise to young entrepreneurs. While I've gone through most of this sites i decided to compile the ones i feel do it best based on content and visitors. Some of this sites are foreign, while others here in Nigeria, although i wasn't able to get one in plateau state or in the university of jos.   Here are the ones I've got.  1. Inc.com   Inc.com was founded in 1979, in the U.S and focuses on start up businesses. I personally follow Inc.com on facebook and almost daily read articles on this site. I even share their post on this blog if i find it very useful for readers. So, perhaps you can find time to visit this blog if you desperately need startup tutorship. So...

What lucrative businesses are there in UJ? Well here they are.

The university environment is not just a citadel of knowledge but an environment filled with vast business and career opportunities. While students spend time working on their class grades, aiming for 3.00, its also not a taboo that they can earn money doing other things. I spoke with students of this institution( university of Jos) about what businesses they think are highly creative and the mentions were not just similar but from my observations they are very true. Photo by Bizbuilder.com So, the question was, "what business do you think is most lucrative for students in the university of Jos and why?" The most common replies were: 1. Selling of accessories 2. Make-up and cosmetics 3. Bakery/ Baking 4. Photography 5. Internet cafe centres, typing and binding 6. Sales consultant. Reply 1. Selling clothes, shoes, makeup and cosmetics They are basic necessities Then making snacks and baked stuff too because  there's always a party or celebration...

Want to succeed in business and academics? Kill the thought that you are depressed.

A lot of people walk around feeling depressed, and it is becoming a world wide problem not just to themselves but to their parents, siblings and the society at large. Depression as known has caused a rising amount of suicide on a daily basis, research showed that ever 40 seconds, someone commits suicide! Not just about suicide, it has caused a lot of people to give up on themselves. Disappointments and failures are inevitable as humans, we face them in business, academics, career, marriage and so many other daily routines. An entrepreneur or student who wants to achieve much must know that, he must fail. Of the greatest stories of sailors, I've never heard of a smooth sail. So is it in business and academics there is never an easy way to business success or academic excellence, and no successful person today got there feeling depressed. What is even depression? Here is how Miriam Webster dictionary defined it-  a state of feeling sad :  a seriou...

5 stress free and high paying jobs to take on while still a student.

Of cause studying provides a platform for students to secure a bright future, for students who have rich parents finance is definitely not a problem, but how about the average Nigerian student?   I wrote this article knowing it absolutely is not easy combining schooling with other entrepreneurial efforts, am a student myself and also find it difficult combining it. But you can learn to balance it and pick a job doing so you can earn extra money( or at least lay a foundation of money making after school) while still schooling. Students want to come out with good grades but  we all know well that the labour market is choked-up and good grades now don't give money -no way- only the bold get a chance. Here are jobs i think you can do while in school. 1. Freelancing .  What way to make money, most especially for students majoring in English, mass communication or linguistics, as they have been taught how to present a readable article. Freelancing...

5 traits all entrepreneurs must posses.

While some people claim success is all luck, its not quite so with an entrepreneur who is hard headed. Leaders are not born but made, a lot of these successful entrepreneurs we see give their time, take risks and shun discouragement to get to where they are now. To be a successful business person, here are 5 traits you should posses. 1. Determination   Building a business entails a lot of hard work and focus. Without a burning desire according to Napoleon hill, one can't reach his goals. A determined entrepreneur knows he should keep pressing till he achieve his goals, he puts it at heart that must make it at all cost. And without this its almost impossible to make it as an entrepreneur. 2. Communication   This is where a lot of training is needed, most entrepreneurs shun this part of business, as they are mostly introverted, but this is one of the most important aspect that needs to be taken care of.   Communication in words (oral) ...

Why government job? Here are 5 businesses to startup in Nigeria.

While a majority of the Nigerian population are forcing their way into the public sector to meet ends, a lot of opportunities are dieing down, and remain untapped in the country.   A nation that have produced the richest man in African, richest woman in Africa  and a growing large telecom company, but yet its citizens still run to government to offer them jobs. I picked sectors in the country that have a lot of opportunities to dig into. While it might differ in location, these are the ones i found in my place. Feel free to add yours at the comment box below. 1. Poultry Farming.   With the festive periods drawing close, chicken is not only needed but eggs also. These eggs can be supplied to restaurants as well as sold to retail outlets. Believe me I've seen a lot of people make it in this business. If you start with 1,000 birds and manage your poultry farm properly, when the turnover on investment begins to come, you will be making millions annually. ...

Want to launch a successful startup? Avoid these 9 common mistakes.

The list below is not just a compilation--these are some (OK, all) of the mistakes I made as a first-time founder and had to  learn the  hard way . 1. Don't start a tech company without a technical co-founder. While finding a quality chief technology officer is never easy, your efforts will pay off in spades if you do. Ask for referrals, attend meetups, and network aggressively. Now rinse and repeat. Don't rush into a relationship with the first technical person you meet--take your time and find the best partner. 2. Don't solve a problem in a niche market. That idea you had for electrolyte tablets for male athletes over 50 with gym memberships? Don't do it. The market is too small. How about a sports product for athletes of all ages, but differentiated from current alternatives? Much better. Dream big: Look for a mass market opportunity. 3. Insist on a four-year founder vesting. Issuing equity to founders up front can be the death knell of your sta...

10 explicit quotes for career and academics.

Zig ziglar rightly pointed out that motivation is needed daily like a morning bath.   Over the recent years more people have took it upon themselves to provide quotes, and motivational speech that will be of help to those going through individual crises.   Here are some quotes that I've picked and think they are good enough to solve so many problems and also encourage you the reader. 1. Do not ever waste time planning, analysing and risking on small ideas. Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overall and looks like work.  - John Mason. From An enemy called average. 2. Never mistake knowledge for wisdom, one helps you make a living, the other helps you make a life.    -John Mason. 3. often in the real world, it is not the smart who get ahead but the bold.    - Robert Kiyosaki. From Rich dad, poor dad. 4. Yield not to defeat, aspire, perspire, inspire. Regret not, retreat not. Preserve and perserve. And surely a ...
