Europe is a continent on its own level when it comes to football. The rules of the game were made on the continent and they continue to influence the game every day that passes. Today, we want to focus on four of the most competitive leagues in Europe. We want to settle the argument of which club is the most successful using the trophies they have won in their history.

They rank as follows;

10. Atletico Madrid- 28 trophies

Atletico Madrid is based in Spanish Capital Madrid. The club has been in the shadow of well known Real Madrid side for many years but they have enough trophies to get in the top 10. The trophies they have lifted include La Liga-10 titles, Copa del Rey- 10 trophies, Europa League- 2 trophies and UEFA Super Cup- 2 trophies among others. The club home ground is called Wanda Metropolitano.

9. Inter-Milan- 39 trophies

Italian giants Inter-Milan also makes the list for all the right reasons with a record of 39 trophies. The club shares San Siro Stadium with rivals AC Milan. In 2010 under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho, the club became the first club in the country to win a treble. Other trophies they have lifted include:  18 Serie A titles, 7 Coppa Italia crowns 5 Supercoppa Italiana trophies, 3 Champions League titles, 3 UEFA Cups, 1 FIFA Club World Cup and 2 Intercontinental.

8. Arsenal -45 trophies

Emirates Stadium is the home of Arsenal football club. Arsene Wenger has been the club manager for the last 20 years. The club is based in London. The 43 trophies include 13 Premier League titles, 13 FA Cups, 14 FA Community Shield crowns, 2 League Cup, 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup and 1 UEFA Cup.

7. AC Milan- 47 trophies

AC Milan is the second most successful club in European Club competition called the Champions League. They have lifted 7 crowns, 2 Cup Winners Cup, 5 UEFA Super Cup, 3 Intercontinental Cups, 1 Club World Cup, 18 Serie A titles, 5 Coppa Italia and 6 Italian Super Cups. They share the San Siro with InterMilan.

6. Liverpool -59 trophies

Liverpool is the most successful British club in Europe with 5 Champions League trophies to their name. They won their most recent in 2005 defeating AC Milan in post-match penalties. They were also the most successful club in Britain with 18 crowns until recently when Manchester United dethroned them. They have also won 3 UEFA Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 7 FA Cups, 8 League Cups and 15 FA Community Shields. They play at Anfield Stadium.

5. Juventus- 62 trophies

Juventus is by far the most successful club in Italian football history. They have won 33 Serie A titles, 12 Italian Cups, 7 Italian Super Cups, 2 European Cups, 3 UEFA Cups, 1 Cup Winners Cup, 2 UEFA Super Cups and two Intercontinental Cups. They play at Juventus Stadium in Turin. They have won Serie A for the last five years in a row.

4. Manchester United- 68 trophies

Manchester United is the most successful British Club domestically with 20 Premier League titles but they are behind Liverpool in Europe with 3 Champions League crowns. They have lifted the FA Cup 12 times, 4 League Cups, 21 FA Community Shields, 1 Cup Winners Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 Club World Cup & 1 Uefa Europa League trophy among others. They won a famous treble in 1999, to become the only club in the UK to do that. They play at the Iconic stadium called Old Trafford.

3. Bayern Munich- 68 trophies

Bayern Munich is the without a doubt the King of German football. They have lifted the Bundesliga title a record 27 times, German Cup 18 times, German League Cup 6 times, German Super Cup 5 times, UEFA Champions League 5 times, 1 Cup Winners Cup, 1 UEFA Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 2 Intercontinental Cups and 1 Club World Cup. They play at the Iconic Allianz Arena in Munich.

2. Real Madrid- 85 trophies

Real Madrid is the most successful Club in European competition called the Champions League with 12 crowns to their name. In 2016, they lifted their most recent crown. The La Liga giants have also won 33 League titles, 19 Copa del Rey Cups, 9 Spanish Super Cup and 1 Spanish League Cup (removed). They have also lifted 2 UEFA Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 3 Intercontinental Cups and 1 Club World Cup.

1. Barcelona- 87 trophies

Barcelona is the most successful Club going by trophies won so far. They have collected a total of 86 trophies. The Camp Nou based club has lifted 24 La Liga crowns, Copa del Rey 29 times, Spanish Super Cups 12 trophies, 2 Spanish League Cups (removed), 5 Champions League titles, 4 Cup Winners Cups, 3 Old Fairs Cup (removed), 5 UEFA Super Cups and 3 FIFA Club World Cups.
